Barbara Amerio is the CEO and Sustainability Manager of Amer Yachts SPA, a leading builder of semi-custom superyachts from 30 to 75 meters in composite and steel. Based in Sanremo, Italy.

Barbara represents the second generation of her family’s shipbuilding legacy, which began with her father’s founding of the Amer Yachts brand. She has been fully immersed in the yachting industry since completing her linguistic studies in 1989, later earning her international brokerage license in 1996 and launching her own brokerage company, initially Tempo Blu and now Am Mediazione Marittima.

Driven by a passion for innovation and environmental responsibility, Barbara is deeply committed to advancing sustainability in yacht building. She combines commercial acumen with a forward-thinking approach to design and production, playing a key role in Amer Yachts’ impressive growth, including four large superyachts currently under construction alongside their composite yacht line.

Barbara’s achievements extend beyond her company. She made history as the first woman elected President of the superyacht sector in the Italian industry association, serving three consecutive terms. She was appointed as an EU Commission Trade Ambassador and elected Vice President of Steamiamoci, an international association dedicated to reducing the gender gap for young generations. Through these roles, she strives to inspire women in yachting and set an example of leadership in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

Her work has earned her numerous international awards, including a prestigious lifetime achievement award presented at the 2023 Genoa Boat Show. Fluent in Italian, French, and English—with a background in German—Barbara brings a multicultural perspective to every project, championing Italian excellence on a global stage. She continues to focus on building sustainable yachts and empowering future generations of women to pursue their ambitions in the maritime industry.
