Cassie Stetkiewicz | Director of Operations at FarSounder

Updated: Aug 1

Cassie Stetkiewicz is a seasoned operations leader and strategic visionary, currently serving as the Director of Operations at FarSounder, a pioneering technology company based in Warwick, Rhode Island, USA. With over eight years at FarSounder, she is now at the helm of Administration, Marketing, and Business Development. Cassie has played an integral role in steering the company through a period of innovation, global expansion, and increased market relevance.

FarSounder is best known for developing Argos 3D Forward Looking Sonar (FLS) systems—cutting-edge technology designed to provide real-time underwater navigation and hazard detection. These sonar systems allow yachts to detect in-water obstacles such as whales, reefs, rocks, shipping containers, and ice up to 1000 meters ahead, significantly increasing safety and environmental protection. Additionally, the seafloor mapping capabilities of the Argos system store data during each journey, allowing that information to be recalled on return trips—redefining how modern yachts interact with and interpret their environments.

At the core of FarSounder’s mission is environmental consciousness and safety at sea, principles that Cassie passionately champions in her leadership role. “Our company was founded over two decades ago because of a real need to prevent whale strikes and oil spills,” Cassie explains. “We’re driven by a desire to ensure yachts not only have the latest technology onboard but that they are actively contributing to safer, cleaner seas.”

In her current position, Cassie is responsible for managing the company’s systems, operational processes, and overall organizational efficiency. She collaborates closely with FarSounder's CEO to implement strategic objectives that align with the company's long-term vision. Her responsibilities include designing and executing business and marketing strategies, driving sustainable financial growth, overseeing customer acquisition and retention strategies, and leading communications across all channels—both B2B and B2C.

Cassie’s background in product development, brand strategy, and global communications gives her a comprehensive understanding of how to position FarSounder in the global marine technology market. She is particularly passionate about building strong relationships across the industry, from dealers and distributors to shipbuilders, captains, and yacht owners. Her ability to craft compelling narratives around complex technologies has not only enhanced FarSounder’s brand but also enabled the company to reach new and previously underserved markets.

A key initiative under Cassie’s leadership has been expanding FarSounder’s global footprint through active participation in trade shows, conferences, and international exhibitions. While the company is well known in certain regions and market segments, Cassie is focused on amplifying FarSounder's message to the wider yachting industry. “We want all yacht operators to understand the advantages of knowing what’s under the water ahead of them in real time,” she says. “Our technology is not just about navigation—it’s about responsibility, foresight, and protecting what matters most.”

Cassie is based in Warwick, Rhode Island, and is a native English speaker. She entered the yachting and marine technology industry after building a foundation in operations, marketing, and communications—skills that proved highly transferable when she joined FarSounder.

Although she did not begin her career in yachting, her deep curiosity about the marine world and her passion for impactful, mission-driven work drew her to FarSounder. Since then, she has become a respected figure in the space, known for her ability to bridge technical innovation with strategic market positioning.

One of Cassie’s current priorities is growing FarSounder’s brand awareness and expanding its reach within both luxury and commercial marine markets. She envisions a future where Argos FLS systems are a standard piece of equipment on all yachts, large and small. To move toward that milestone, she is overseeing partnerships, education efforts, and campaigns aimed at demonstrating the real-world benefits of sonar-based foresight in marine navigation.

Cassie also plays a leading role in highlighting FarSounder’s environmental commitment, which is deeply embedded in the company’s DNA. “Knowing what lies ahead below the surface is crucial not just for safety, but for preserving marine ecosystems,” she notes. “We want to eliminate avoidable accidents—whether that’s a collision with a whale, an oil spill due to grounding, or a crew injury from hitting submerged debris. That’s our motivation every day.”

When asked what she wishes she knew before entering the industry, Cassie is candid: “I wish I had understood just how large and complex the marine industry is, and how important it is to listen closely to customers across different regions. The needs of a superyacht captain in the Antarctica can be quite different from those of a commercial operator in Southeast Asia, yet both rely on technology like ours. Building global relationships and staying adaptable has been key.”

Her leadership philosophy is centered on service, clarity, and authenticity. She believes in prioritizing education and transparency in all customer and partner relationships. Cassie’s ability to translate highly technical information into clear, relatable messaging has helped elevate FarSounder’s visibility and credibility in an increasingly competitive sector.

In addition to her corporate responsibilities, Cassie is a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in the maritime and technology industries. She supports initiatives aimed at increasing the visibility of women in yachting, marine engineering, and leadership roles across the sector. She is also an active contributor to educational forums and believes in mentorship as a vehicle for building the next generation of marine tech leaders.

As she continues her work at FarSounder, Cassie remains committed to the long-term vision of transforming how yachts and vessels navigate and engage with their environments. With her strategic acumen, deep operational expertise, and unwavering dedication to the company’s mission, she is helping ensure that FarSounder not only leads in innovation—but in purpose.
