Deborah Fry is the co-founder and Director of Yacht Trace, a technology company transforming how tenders and chase boats are protected. Based in the Peak District, UK, she leads sales and operations, working closely with yacht managers, captains, insurers, and underwriters to mitigate risk and deliver reliable, innovative solutions for high-value tenders.


Deborah entered the yachting industry through her partner, an engineer who developed the original system that became the foundation of Yacht Trace. Since 2023, she has helped design and launch advanced tender monitoring solutions, integrating cutting-edge technology with simplicity and sustainability. Her work focuses on providing real-time, full-spectrum monitoring to protect tender fleets, educate stakeholders, and improve insurance and operational efficiency across yachts.


Currently, Deborah and her team are working on a lithium off-gassing detection integration for their Tender Monitoring System, TM02. The next big milestone is the full launch of TM02 to the wider market, including complete fleet integration for yacht managers and bespoke options for individual tenders. By demonstrating how reliable monitoring can transform tender and chase boat insurance and management, Deborah is helping the industry rethink outdated assumptions about vessel protection.


Reflecting on her journey, Deborah notes one unexpected challenge: even small decisions in yachting involve many stakeholders—owners, captains, management companies, and insurers—each with unique priorities. She emphasizes that tender monitoring is still a new concept in the industry, and education is a key part of her mission. By guiding stakeholders through the benefits of real-time, technology-driven solutions, she is at the forefront of a shift toward smarter, safer, and more proactive yacht operations.


Before entering the industry, Deborah spent 16 years leading Art departments and serving as an exam board associate, combining creativity with problem-solving. She also has experience in software and digital transformation, specializing in CRM and data-driven solutions—skills she has applied to building Yacht Trace’s innovative systems.


Deborah Fry continues to push the boundaries of tender safety, proving that thoughtful technology and strategic collaboration can protect assets, reduce risk, and set a new standard for yacht operations.
