Dilara Ayse Dayioglugil is a yacht and aviation lawyer and the founder of MARE LEGAL & Consultancy, based in Istanbul, Türkiye. Fluent in Turkish and English, she provides strategic legal counsel across the full spectrum of yacht and private jet ownership — from sales and financing to VAT structuring, flag registration, and dispute resolution. Her clients include yacht owners, shipyards, brokers, and financial institutions operating across Europe, the Middle East, and key offshore jurisdictions.
Growing up immersed in the yachting world, Dilara developed a deep admiration for the sea and vessels from a young age. What began as a personal passion quickly evolved into a profession, as she entered the maritime legal field, initially focusing on commercial shipping before transitioning into the highly specialized world of superyachts and private jets. She holds a law degree from Istanbul University with additional specialization in Energy Law, International Commercial Agreements, and Air Transport Law. Her international legal education spans piracy and marine insurance in Athens, corporate responsibility in Turku, and an MBA from the Toronto School of Management.
MARE LEGAL is not just a law firm — it’s a reflection of Dilara’s commitment to both legal excellence and industry evolution. The firm proudly operates as an all-women team, and is home to a dedicated all-women sailing team as well, symbolizing both its deep-rooted connection to the maritime world and its commitment to gender representation within it.
Currently, Dilara is advising on some of the most complex superyacht transactions in the market, including new builds, brokerage sales, cross-border financing, leasing structures, and multi-jurisdictional flag registrations. Her recent mandates span high-stakes disputes, including failed yacht purchases, pre-contractual breakdowns, and vessel arrests resulting in negotiated settlements. She also advises on cases that intersect traditional finance with the world of digital assets — including yacht acquisitions partially or fully funded by cryptocurrency.
Her standout portfolio includes:
Managing the international salvage and legal dispute of a yacht that sank off coast— a case involving intricate marine insurance and liability issues;
Acting for clients in financed yacht acquisitions, including successive sales of prominent builds such as the Navetta 42, Navetta 33, and San Lorenzo 96, bridging regulatory gaps between blockchain assets and maritime law;
Advising on contentious sales processes where legal strategy, negotiation, and arrest procedures led to favorable settlements for her clients.
What Dilara finds most rewarding about the yachting and aviation industries is their truly global nature. Each transaction is a dynamic puzzle, drawing together cross-border legal knowledge, commercial insight, and cultural fluency. As MARE LEGAL continues to grow its global reach, Dilara remains steadfast in her mission to advocate for greater visibility, access, and leadership opportunities for women in both the maritime and aviation sectors — at sea, in the skies, and at the negotiating table.
