Gayle Patterson is redefining the future of luxury yacht charter by pushing the industry beyond traditional itineraries and into purposeful, experience-led exploration. As Director of Yachting at Pelorus Yachting, she leads the strategic growth of a charter business that blends superyachting with expedition travel, sustainability, and immersive storytelling, setting a new benchmark for what modern yachting can offer.
Based in Monaco and originally from the UK, Gayle oversees Pelorus Yachting’s charter operations, central agency fleet, and global charter marketing. Fluent in English and French, and conversational in Spanish and German, she brings a distinctly international perspective to her role. Her work focuses on creating transformative voyages that encourage owners and charterers to venture further afield, embracing remote destinations and meaningful exploration while maintaining the highest standards of luxury.
Gayle’s path into yachting was shaped by a strong foundation in hospitality and luxury travel. After studying Combined Languages at Hull University and Salzburg University, she spent five years working globally in luxury resort management and entertainment. A move to the South of France naturally led her into yachting, where she joined Edmiston as a Central Agent, combining her sales expertise, attention to detail, and deep understanding of guest experience. She later strengthened her commercial expertise with a postgraduate degree in Boat Retail and Brokerage from Portsmouth University.
One of Gayle’s most defining achievements was the delivery of a groundbreaking Arctic expedition, taking guests from the fjords of Ålesund and Lofoten to the remote wilderness of Svalbard. The charter blended high-adrenaline adventure, including paragliding, polar snorkelling, and glacier climbing, with rare wildlife encounters such as polar bears, walrus colonies, and whales. Captured by a renowned wildlife film crew, the expedition seamlessly combined luxury with raw Arctic nature, culminating in a polar BBQ at 80° North, one of the northernmost dining experiences on Earth.
Under Gayle’s leadership, Pelorus Yachting has grown rapidly into a recognised force in experiential charter. She has built a eight-yacht Central Agency fleet, including the 69-metre Captain Arctic, the world’s first near carbon-zero sailing yacht, and expanded the business across both U.S. and European markets. Her work has also helped bridge the gap between yachting and the wider luxury travel industry, driving new partnerships and attracting a new generation of charter clients.
Looking ahead, Gayle’s goal is to establish Pelorus Yachting as the world’s leading specialist in expedition and experience-led yacht charter. With a strong focus on conservation-led journeys, innovation, and purposeful exploration, she continues to challenge convention and reshape how the industry defines luxury on the water.
