Georgina Menheneott is helping reshape how sustainability is understood, implemented, and measured across the superyacht industry. As Head of Sustainability at Burgess, she combines strategic rigor, commercial insight, and lived operational experience to move sustainability beyond intent and into action—embedding it into business models, crew frameworks, and client decision-making at a global scale.

With a career that spans sales brokerage, market expansion, and organisational transformation, Georgina brings a rare systems-level perspective to yachting. Her work at Burgess has focused on ensuring sustainability is not a standalone initiative, but a core business function with tangible impact. From launching new programmes to integrating sustainability into yacht management and brokerage practices, she has been instrumental in turning ambition into measurable progress, including raising over £200,000 for ocean conservation through innovative commercial models.

Georgina’s path into yachting was anything but conventional. Armed with a BA in Modern European Studies and an MA in International Relations from the University of Nottingham, she originally set her sights on a career in defence, security, and diplomacy. A pragmatic need for work in London led her to Burgess in 2003—and what began as a stopgap quickly became a long-term calling. Over the years, she has worked across most divisions of the business, becoming one of the first female sales brokers during the global financial crisis and contributing to 25–30 yacht sales annually between 2009 and 2012.

Beyond brokerage, Georgina has led complex internal change, including the integration of Oceanstyle into Burgess and the company’s expansion into Asia, the Middle East, and Australia. Today, she channels that same resilience and adaptability into sustainability leadership—developing initiatives such as the Sustainable Seas crew framework and the Caribbean Crew Programme, while advocating for industry-wide responsibility and collaboration.

Outside of Burgess, Georgina’s achievements reflect a life driven by curiosity and impact. She has rowed for Great Britain, co-authored a paper presented at the United Nations, participated in a solar energy startup with Clinton Foundation alumni, and helped establish Karoo Ridge Conservancy in South Africa—a wildlife conservancy supporting both biodiversity and local communities. When time allows, she finds her greatest joy on the water, reconnecting with rivers and oceans in small boats alongside her family.
