Janet Xanthopoulos is a leading figure in the luxury yachting, aviation, and real estate sectors, with over two decades of global experience and an exceptional background in international and maritime law. Born in Greece, raised in Monaco, and educated in France, Janet holds two Master's degrees in International & European Law and Shipping & Transportation Law, with additional certifications in VAT, taxation, and real estate.
Janet’s entry into the yachting world was serendipitous—before even completing her studies, she was offered a position in Monaco’s shipping sector. A chance conversation led her to Luxembourg in 2001, which at the time was the epicenter of yacht ownership and structuring. Though she had no background in yachting, she quickly adapted, developing a deep passion for the industry and rising to become a key architect of modern yacht operations.
As Director of Rosemont Yacht Services and Founder & CEO of Calista Consulting and Calista Real Estate, Janet provides end-to-end solutions to ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs). Her services span yacht and aircraft acquisition, ownership structuring, legal compliance, taxation, VAT and customs, registration, crew and insurance management, and ongoing operational support.
Her pioneering work includes the development of the Yacht Engaged in Trade (YET) program, a third legal pathway for commercial yacht operations in the Mediterranean. She played a critical role in helping the Marshall Islands implement this framework, and subsequently authored the shipping notices for the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, and the Isle of Man.
Janet has also held leadership roles in several influential yachting organizations including the European Committee for Professional Yachting (ECPY), the Monaco Yachting Cluster, and IYBA. She currently serves as an Ambassador of Monaco Capital of Advanced Yachting and is a Yacht Arbitrator for the International Yacht Arbitration Council (IYAC). She is also a frequent speaker at high-level conferences across Europe, the U.S., and Asia, and has authored the VAT and taxation chapters in two of the industry's major reference books: The Superyacht Industry Book and The Law of Yachting.
Janet's career has always been guided by a strong sense of integrity, a deep commitment to mentorship, and a belief in empowering the next generation. She works closely with the same trusted team of women who have followed her throughout her professional journey—some for over 20 years.
With her unique blend of legal expertise, commercial acumen, and international experience, Janet is not only shaping the future of yachting but also building a more transparent, sustainable, and client-focused model for luxury asset ownership. She continues to expand her impact through her growing companies, always anchored by a deep love for her family and a personal mission to guide her daughter with strength, compassion, and confidence.
